Yoga and Meditation

Yoga is not about touching your toes. It’s about opening your heart.”

YogaIntro2Initially, the discipline of hatha yoga - the physical aspect of yoga - was developed as a vehicle for meditation. Hatha yoga prepared the body, and particularly the nervous system, for stillness, creating the necessary physical strength and stamina that allowed the mind to remain calm.

As a child, I learnt Yoga from my father and also at school, where we had Yoga classes twice a week. Yoga was not an exercise regime, but a way of life for us.

It was only while I was working in San Diego, USA that I completed a 300 Hr Yoga Teacher’s Training, so I could begin to start sharing my Yoga journey with others.

I do not believe in the multitudes of Yoga styles available today. To me, the difference between Yoga and Gymnastics lies in conscious experience. Yoga is a journey within, where -  age, fitness level or religious beliefs do not matter. It is an option for all.

In my “Awareness Yoga” Classes...

  • ... I encourage you to perform all postures (or Asanas) fully relaxed, without strain, with full awareness and if possible with closed eyes. With closed eyes, the surroundings do not exist.
  • ... I encourage you to let go of your mind and instead feel the different sensations within your body.
  • ... I do not walk around or touch you to correct a pose, as it disrupts your energy.
  • ... I do not use music. Yoga is about listening to the voice within.

Yoga for the Little Ones: Living in the now, planetary travel and animal stories

Children are natural yogis, often they don't even know it. Playful experience and "being in the moment" is something original, something human. An ability that can deteriorate over time. Then when everyday stress gets out of hand, when children are busy with daily performance requirements and have to make more decisions than they can handle.

Performance is important and every child should be encouraged, no question. At the same time: what if there was an offer for children where they did not have to prove? Where you don't have to be the best? An hour a week that is only there to stimulate children's imaginations, strengthen their self-confidence and develop coping strategies for negative emotions ...

In children's yoga, the little ones learn to consciously feel their body. They're guided to conscious breathing in an age-appropriate manner and through targeted exercises the ability to coordinate will increase. The body awareness is trained and the ability to concentrate is increased.

Children's yoga is always associated with laughter and fun. Movement games and exercises increase muscle strength, Spine flexibility, elasticity and joint flexibility, according to age.

Summary of Key points:

  • Nasal Breathing: Unless otherwise mentioned, inhalation and exhalation is only through the Nose, whenever possible.
  • Barefoot: If possible, the yoga exercises (asanas) are carried out barefoot in order to feel the feet better and to ensure optimal contact with the floor.
  • Duration: 1 Hour
  • Price:
    • Group Lessons:
      • Fr. 20.- per child (Minimum 4 participants)
      • 11 Lessons for Fr. 200.-
    • Private Lessons (in the comfort of your home):
