Cooking Classes

“When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use.
When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.”

— Ayurvedic Proverb

IndiaSpiceAccording to Ayurveda, food is preventive medicine. Cooking and eating with awareness can turn a simple, balanced meal into nectar – nourishing us to the cellular level.

The classes are about inviting your passion for cooking. What you will learn is the structure of a dish, and how to experiment and improvise - rather than simply following a recipe.

With all its exotic ingredients, unfamiliar dishes, and tongue-tingling flavors, Indian cuisine can be both exciting and intimidating at the same time!

Five Programs are offered:

  • Basic North Indian
  • Basic South Indian
  • Advanced North Indian
  • Ayurvedic one-pot meal

Overview

Overview:

In these classes, I share my knowledge of India's age-old vegetarian culinary traditions, which I learned from my mother. She incorporated the basics of ayurveda passed down from generations, in her everyday cooking. She cooked only with fresh and locally available ingredients and used spices not only for taste but also for health benefits. The meals were wholesome, nutritious, without the use of any artificial ingredients and most importantly were prepared and served with Love.

You will be guided through spices, techniques and the culture of Indian cuisine, so you get familiar with the ingredients at hand and confident in your improvisations. It can open up a whole new world of cooking from what's available in your pantry.

Emphasis is on organic local produce, ghee, homemade yogurt and mindful presence in the kitchen to fully experience with all your senses, the joy of cooking and relishing the lovingly prepared meal.

I also offer Private cooking sessions in the comfort of your home.
